Relief for George Michael

Pop icon George Michael has recorded a new single for this year’s Comic Relief charity appeal.

The 47-year-old singer, who spent most of the summer sunning himself on Sydney’s Northern Beaches and getting to know the locals, will release True Faith on March 13 in the UK.

If the title sounds a bit familiar – that’s because it’s a cover of a New Order hit from 1987.

All proceeds from George’s version will go to Comic Relief, which aims to eradicate poverty through entertainment.

He has been a big supporter of the charity over the years, providing them with royalties from his song As and appearing on a Little Britain skit.

“It’s always so moving when people stick with us year after year – and we’re thrilled and delighted about the song, and the wonderful video that goes with it,” said Richard Curtis, the Vice Chairman of Comic Relief.

“We promise we’ll use every penny we make from it to save and change lives in Africa and all over the UK.”
