UK teen pop upstart Conor Maynard has a few things in common with Justin Bieber: both look much younger than their actual ages (Maynard’s 19, but looking at the sleeve photos on this album, you’d be forgiven for thinking he was not long out of nappies) and both make the sort of chart-friendly pop-R&B designed to make tweenage girls go wild.

Thankfully, Maynard’s is rather more palatable to those of us who aren’t tweenage girls. That’s thanks in no small part to the impressive roll call of talent he’s enlisted to help out here: Pharrell Williams produces two songs and guests on the oh-so-Justin Timberlake Lift Off, while Rita Ora and Ne-Yo both show up for duets.

But for all the special guest stars, his greatest asset remains his percolating, bump-n’-grind debut single, Can’t Say No.
