Local queers stand firm

Queer artists’ group the Centrepiece Queer Arts Collective have recently been squatting in a disused council property on Lillydale St, Marrickville. The council is trying to have them removed from the site, but Centrepiece members argue that they’ve created a drug and alcohol-free queer safe space in the building. Those wishing to show support for Centrepiece are invited to join them for a picnic from midday this Sunday April 16 on the grass outside 26 Lillydale St. There will be music, art, speeches and food, plus discussions on the gentrification of Marrickville and the housing crisis.
