Network for talent
A new Facebook community group has been launched exclusively for gay men in the modelling, acting and entertainment industries.
Models, actors, broadcasters, photographers, designers, and musicians are encouraged to join the group established by UK-based Matthew John of film company Olympus Productions.
“I got fed up with having to go to lots of sites looking for the kind of people I needed, and that’s what gave me the idea,” John said.
“If this group grows internationally, as I hope it will, members will be able to link up with the skills they need under one roof, wherever in the world they might need to be.”
The aim of the group is to give members more closely targeted networking opportunites and a platform for showcasing their skills to a wide range of people within the same sphere of interest. The group is a closed one, with membership by online application, subject to review and approval. It already has more than 50 members around the world and is growing by the day.
“We’ve got a large gay movie project in Greece next year, and for that we’re going to need to source a number of people for jobs in that country,” John said.
“We’ll be able to advertise the jobs through the group as well as browse the available talent and make approaches. And so will everyone else.”
