Unique coming out notice goes viral

A BRISBANE mother has received an overwhelming heartfelt response after she celebrated her son’s coming-out as a male in the birth section of a newspaper.

Yolanda Bogert, mother to Kai Bogert, submitted to the Courier Mail a retracted birth tribute for her son who recently came out to his parents as trans*.

Yolonda reportedly said she did this as a way to express her full support to her son.

The notice read: “In 1995 we announced the arrival of our sprogget, Elizabeth Anne as a daughter. Oops! Our bad. We would like to present our wonderful son — Kai Bogert. Loving you is the easiest thing in the world. Tidy your room.”

Kai told News.com.au that he did not expect his mother’s response and has since felt freer after announcing his true gender identity.

“I am so happy with what she has done,” he said.

“This last week has changed everything for me.”

Pictures of the tribute has gone viral on social media,  with more than 4200 retweets on Twitter alone.

The incident has also grabbed headlines around the country.
