Liberals invite community to health forum

Victorian Liberal candidate for the state seat of Prahran, Clem Newton-Brown is hosting a gay health forum tomorrow in Windsor.

Newton-Brown said the GLBT community faces specific health concerns that need to be addressed, such as higher rates of HIV and mental health issues.

The issue of surgery and emergency waiting times at the Alfred Hospital will also be raised at the forum.

“Access to quality health care is a critical concern for all Victorians and I am committed to ensuring that all members of the Prahran community can have their say on how to improve our health system,” Newton-Brown said.

“I am proud to have the opportunity to represent the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community and fight for their concerns.”

Opposition health and ageing spokesman and Member for the Southern Metropolitan region David Davis is also expected to attend.
The LGBT Health Forum will be held August 4, 7pm at the Will Sampson Centre, 102 Henry St, Windsor.
