Federation dinner a success

The SGLBA joined with the Federation of Gay Games (FGG) to present the Ambassadors’ Welcome Dinner, the official welcome night and gala dinner for Matthew Mitcham and Blake Skjellerup.

The dinner was held at the Marriott, College St on September 1. The FGG’s two new ambassadors, Mitcham and Skjellerup, joined fellow ambassador Michelle Ferris. We were honoured to have Professor Kerry Phelps MC the evening.

Ferris and the other ambassadors spoke about their Gay Games experiences in Cologne, the spirit of the LGBTQI sporting community, and ‘Winning Gold — Achieving Goals’.

The function was supported by Team Sydney and sponsored by Proteus Leadership Centres. Thanks also go to Red Petal Floral Design for their support.

Ninety supporters and members of the community across sports, business and social groups attended the event. Guests included NSW Sport and Recreation Minister Graham Annesley, Cr Phillip Black representing the City of Sydney, FGG board members, SGLBA members, and leading members of Team Sydney.

The event was an example of community groups working together to recognise sporting achievement and to present a successful function for members and the wider community.

The SGLBA is committed to providing forums for business people and the community to come together and hear from successful and inspiring community members.
