Swimming for a good cause

Melbourne GLBT-friendly swimming club the Glamourheads will spend some serious time in the pool this weekend as part of the 24-Hour Mega Swim.

The event will raise funds for people affected by multiple sclerosis (MS). The gruelling swim at Fitzroy Pool will involve teams of no more than 15 participants.

Each team must have one swimmer in the water for the entire 24 hours. Last year the Glamours raised more than $8000 and have so far raised almost $4000 this year.

MS affects over 20,000 Australians. The average age of diagnosis is 30 years and the disease affects three times as many women as men.
