Creative Womyn Down Under will this weekend host Lesbian Weekender, a three-day celebration of all things lesbian.

The fun starts on Friday, July 8 at 7pm, with a bush dance in Marrickville’s Herb Greedy Hall. Entertainers include KD Twang, a bush band led by Ruth Shepherd and country singer/whip-cracker Kerrin Dow. Entry is $15/$10 at door, children free, with supper included.

On Saturday, head to Newtown for activities from 10am including an artisans’ market, poetry session, short films, a walking tour and a forum facilitated by Katrina Fox at the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre. Entry is $15/$10, children free.

Newtown’s Women’s Library will host a movie night from 7.30pm with an entry fee of $10/$5 at the door supporting the Women’s Library.

Then on Sunday head to the Lesbians in the House concert, where several thousand lesbians will pack the Sydney Opera House for a four-hour re-creation of when 2000 lesbians gathered at the venue 20 years ago for a night of music, dance and celebration of community.

Original 1991 performers including Judy Small, Deborah Cheetham, Anique, Kath and Ini and Jive will be joined by Bluehouse, Julie McCrossin (pictured), Shauna Jensen, Kerrianne Cox,  Mignon, Donna-Maree Dunlop, Gabe Journey, Maeve Marsden, Catherine Golden, Sally Whitwell, Toni Lalich and Pia Cameron.
