The upcoming Buck$ Night fundraiser for Australian Marriage Equality (AME) now has a date and a venue.

The Buck$ party will be held at Darlinghurst’s Slide Bar on Friday, September 23, one weekend before New Mardi Gras’ Big Weekend of events that replaces Sleaze Ball.

Buck$ Night organiser Pete Urmson said the party promised to be a spectacular night with go-go dancers, strippers and all the usual shenanigans you’d expect from a bucks party.

“We have support from the Stingers, Lifesavers and other sporting groups who will perform on the night,” Urmson said. “There will also be some surprise special shows that will make this a real men’s Buck$ Night.”

Seven DJs, including Kate Monroe, Dan Murphy and Baby Bear, have pledged to donate their time on the night, while Randell Morris of the Rising and Exile club parties has come on board as promoter.

Referring to the recent failure of the ALP NSW State Conference to explicitly endorse marriage equality in line with other state branches, Urmson said recent times had shown the GLBTI community in NSW that it could not afford to be complacent.

“Ensuring we can provide support to AME is critical.”

Further special guest acts for the party, which is supported by SSO Media as its media partner, will be announced in coming weeks.
