Fat Tuesday returns

Fat Tuesday returns

The Aurora Group will present its fourth annual installment of Fat Tuesday on Tuesday, February 22 as part of the 2011 Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras season.

A traditional feast celebrated under many different names (including Carnival, Shrove Tuesday and Pancake Day) across the world, Fat Tuesday is now an established tradition for Aurora, having proven a hit with supporters of the charitable organisation for three years running.

Fat Tuesday IV will be held in the dining room and cabaret space at Civic Dining, on Level 1 of The Civic, corner of Pitt and Goulburn streets.

“Fat Tuesday is traditionally a fun, indulgent and festive event where guests are treated to fabulous food in the perfect cabaret setting. It is one of the most cherished events of the Aurora annual calendar and we are delighted to showcase the event at Civic Dining,” Aurora chairman David Moutou said.

Tickets are $110, and include a three-course menu, wines, and what organisers promise will be a line-up of some of the finest singers and comedians around.

Past Fat Tuesday dinners have included performances by Virginia Gay, Mark Trevorrow, Jackie Loeb, Hayden Tee and Denise Hanlon, and special appearances by singing socialite ‘Second Hand Rose’ Hancock-Porteous, international musical therapist Jan van de Stool and last year’s comic turn by Rosa the Russian Beautician.

Details of the 2011 event’s entertainment line-up will be announced in January, but tickets are now on sale and patrons are advised to book early. Phone (02) 8323 4041 or email [email protected]
