iPhone goes gay with emojis

The new version of Apple’s iPhone operating system, iOS 6, has been released with the option for gay-themed emoticons, known as emojis, reports Gizmodo.

The popular graphics, often used in texting and email, now feature two pictograms representing gay and lesbian couples for the first time.

There had been heterosexual relationship-related emojis previously, which show couples holding hands and a heterosexual couple with a son.

The new icons show two men holding hands and two women in the same position.
