Hollande supports gay marriage
France’s president-elect Francois Hollande favours allowing same-sex marriage and adoption for same-sex couples.
The incoming Socialist leader defeated former president Nicolas Sarkozy on Sunday with 52 percent of the vote in election run-offs.
In France, same-sex couples can have their relationships recognised by a Civil Solidarity Pacts (PACS) but cannot formally marry or adopt children. The relationship scheme is also open to opposite-sex couples.
