ACON lends support for sport

This year’s Team Sydney Sports Day Out will be bigger than ever with two new major sponsors, ACON and the City of Sydney, lending support to the event.

Both organisations have put their names behind the annual athletic event, scheduled for 12 October, in support of Team Sydney’s efforts to encourage healthy living in our community.

This new partnership with Team Sydney is a natural alliance and we’re very much looking forward to working with Team Sydney’s membership to help build our community’s health and wellbeing, ACON CEO Stevie Clayton said.

Participation in sport and fitness is a great way to keep healthy, not just physically but also in terms of the friendships and social networks that sporting activities provide,

In return for funding assistance with Sports Day Out and the upcoming Parramatta Pride picnic on September 21, Team Sydney will help ACON stage health promotion activities on the day and will start a referral service for clients looking for a way to increase their health and fitness levels.

Team Sydney president Geoff Radford said the partnership would be beneficial for the entire community.

Ultimately, our two organisations are all about keeping people fit and healthy. By coming on board as one of our principal sponsors ACON has proved to be a good sport when it comes to supporting the community and we’re looking forward to working with them on a whole range of new initiatives, Radford said.

Team Sydney is committed to providing opportunities and environments where people can meet, play together and develop friendships outside the traditional gay bars and nightclubs. As such, Team Sydney is making a valuable contribution to the health and wellbeing of the GLBT community.

  1. Thank you SSO for getting the word out! Sport costs heaps to conduct, and venues, insurance, registration fees and affiliation with sporting organisations costs participants thousands each year. Joining forces with community organisations to assist grass roots health promotion is greatly appreciated.
