Gaga cancels Indonesian gig after protests

Lady Gaga has been forced to cancel her sold-out show in Indonesia following protests by Islamic hard-liners and conservative lawmakers, the Associated Press reports.

National police spokesman Boy Rafli Amar said Tuesday that the permit for her June 3 Born This Way Ball concert had been denied after opposition from the political and religious leaders who claimed her sexy clothes and dance moves would corrupt young people.

It was to be her biggest show on the Asian leg of her tour, with every seat sold in Jakarta’s 52,000-seat Gelora Bung Karno stadium.

Gaga’s South Korean concerts were limited to fans 18 or older because conservatives there raised objections.

Australian fans get to attend the Born This Way Ball in June and July this year.
