Madonna the comic

Madonna the comic

It’s been a good month for Madonna fans – her manager recently announced she’s back in the studio and now the gay icon has been immortalised in a comic book.

The queen of pop is the latest female celebrity to get her life story told in Bluewater Production’s Female Force comic book series. Previous recipients of the honour include Betty White and Margaret Thatcher.

“Our goal is to show the little-known events and influences that resulted in Madonna becoming the phenomenon she remains to this day, more than a quarter-century after she burst upon the scene,” said Jason Schultz, Bluewater’s executive vice president.

He believes this is the perfect way to tell the diva’s life story.

“A visual medium provides perspective that is not only accessible but more relatable to the average person without losing any of the information involved.”

The issue will be released in August and costs only $US3.99. It written by CW Cooke and drawn by Michael Johnson, who looked at her life as she transformed from a fledgling singer into a superstar.

“Most pop stars owe everything to this woman,” CW Cooke said.

“It’s amazing all of the things that she’s done in her lifetime and I have a feeling that this is still only the beginning.”
