Marriage talks

Marriage talks

It’s been a hot topic of public discussion recently and Victorian lobby group Equal Love wants to continue talks on marriage equality next week.

The group will hold a forum on Monday, April 16, 7pm at the Kulin Room, 225 Bourke St, Melbourne to discuss ways to move the debate forward.

The forum will discuss the campaign over the past eight years since the Marriage Act was amended to prevent same-sex marriage and how views have changed.

Speakers include Victorian Greens MLC Sue Pennicuik, JOY94.9 presenter Doug Pollard (pictured), Australian Marriage Equality campaigner Carl Katter and Equal Love convenor Ali Hogg.

Equal Love has called a National Day of Action for Saturday, May 12, 1pm outside the State Library.

Marriage equality advocates claimed victory in a recent Senate inquiry looking at the issue. Some 45,000 submissions in favour of change were received.

  1. Dear Sir/madame.

I am living in S.A. Would love to attend but it’s a bit difficult. I fully equality before the Law, and that includes the choice to marry or not.
