Marriage march for Blue Mountains

Marriage march for Blue Mountains

Unpack that old bridal gown and get your suit out of mothballs — the annual Pink Mountains bridal march up Katoomba St in the Blue Mountains is taking place this Saturday, June 23.

“The parade was great fun last year and we had fantastic support from the crowd. We are planning a bridal party so wear your finery,” Pink Mountains volunteer Kevin Hardwick said.

“If you would like to be a bride or a groom, please come dressed in appropriate attire. You could also come as mother of the bride or groom, bridesmaids, best man, flower boys or girls or just come as a common old guest or onlooker. We will have rainbow flags to wave.”

The march’s theme is Equal Marriage Rights. Pink Mountains members will have signs and placards on hand for marchers to hold. Please advise them in advance if you’re planning to dress as a bride or a groom — the more the merrier, but the march will need at least one of each to lead the parade.

Marchers will gather from 10.30am at Katoomba Public School on Waratah St. The parade starts at the intersection of Lurline and Waratah Sts at 11.30am.
