Outgames preparation hots up

The starting pistol has well and truly been fired for the Wellington Outgames with a diversity of registrations for both competitors and participants in its conference and cultural program.

According to organisers, participants signing up for the 2nd Asia Pacific Outgames range from 20-year-olds to people in their 80s.

Wellington has also developed a powerful conference speaker line-up from New Zealand, Australia and Asia to take part in the Outgames’ Human Rights Conference.

Keynote speakers include New Delhi’s Geetanjali Misra, from the group Creating Resources for Empowerment in Action; Vitit Muntarbhorn, a Thai expert on human rights law; and Sunil Pant, an openly gay member of Nepal’s Parliament.
The call for expressions of interest for conference presentations will close on September 30.

Art exhibitions, guided tours, talks, theatre and musical entertainment will complement the sports and conference activities.

Interested participants can take advantage of earlybird specials before October 31, which entitles applicants to savings of up to 35 percent on registration fees.
