New Mardi Gras has extended the early-bird deadline for Team Sydney sports clubs who wish to have a stall at the 2012 Fair Day.

LGBTI-friendly sports clubs can save $112 off the full standard set-up fee if they apply through Team Sydney before Friday, November 11.

So far only four clubs have submitted applications compared to last year’s Fair Day when there were around 20 clubs in the Team Sydney Sports Village.

Team Sydney Fair Day coordinator Peter Manson told the Star Observer that the Sports Village is always a highlight in the year for LGBTI sporting clubs.

“It always turns out to be a great day for clubs and Fair Day is the best way of attracting new members,” Manson said.

“This year we’re coming very close to securing a new sponsor. If we do, we’ll be able to have our own stage that clubs can use to run demonstrations of their sport.”

The price for sporting clubs who apply through Team Sydney before November 11 is $187 which includes the early-bird price, plus a $50 subsidy from Team Sydney.

General community group stalls cost $299. Applications for those stalls close on Friday, January 13 2012.
