Wett Ones dominate Aussie Masters

Wett Ones Swimming Club held its annual NSW Aussie Masters swim competition on May 26, welcoming more than 25 clubs and 209 swimmers from NSW, the ACT and their ‘sister’ LGBT clubs in Melbourne and Brisbane.

It was a busy day with the 50, 100 and 200 metres of each of the four strokes plus the 400 freestyle and a 4×100 medley relay. Wett Ones were the carnival’s top-scoring club and many members set club records and personal best times.

After a long day of swimming, about 60 Sydney Wett Ones, Melbourne Glamourhead Sharks and Brisbane Aqualicious enjoyed a celebratory dinner, chatting about the day’s events and fostering camaraderie amongst Australia’s LGBT swim squads.

“The event was a huge success again this year,” Wett Ones president Ryan Bennett said.

“An enormous amount of work goes into hosting such a large carnival and I’m really proud of the club for pulling it off again in such style.

“We have a fantastic and dedicated membership and my thanks go out to everyone who volunteered, all our swimmers and our coaches.”
