Love me, love my family

Love me, love my family

Oh what a month! For a part-time drag queen like me, it’s been busy, busy, busy with work, rehearsals and oh so much drag. But it’s great to see that Western Sydney is on a roll.

Let’s start with Kaleidoscope, the new night that started on Friday night at Hotel Parramatta with well over 100 patrons attending. It is proving to be a night for the lesbians with a 70 to 30 mix. Music saw us hit with rock’n’roll, some retro pop and the big hits of today with even a little nutbush thrown in.

The night is likely to be running the last Friday of every month, and after the success of the first night, I’m sure it will only continue to grow bigger and bigger. Watch out Dolphins — does this mean the end of an era after your 13-year run? Or can Parramatta handle two lesbian nights? We’ll see, gorgeous!

While we’re talking about new events, let’s talk Pure Pride, the new GLBT event being held once a month down in the good old Gong. Little old moi was asked to come on down as special guest performer along with international DJ star Kitty

Glitter, my dirty-slut of a daughter LayDee KinMee, and the skinny fucking moll Charisma Belle as the hostess.

Damn her and her sexy boyfriend! If only I was 60 kilos lighter and slightly more attractive, I would so stand a chance at stealing him away.

Instead, LayDee and I entertained the boys of the Gong in a game of tag team in our hotel room from hell — so glad they weren’t put off by the begging junkies at our room door.

Next time I think I’d prefer to just sleep in someone’s panel van! Oh well, we still love you Wollongong. Between the monthly Pure Pride and the weekly GLBT Saturday nights at Castro’s, I’m sure I’ll be making more appearances at two of my favourite venues.

In Western Sydney we see our only gay-owned and operated venue Jupiter’s Nightclub, Richmond with their GLBT night on August 13. Following that on Saturday, August 14, we have Heaven social dance and the launch of our new show ‘Desperate Drag Queens’ with special guest performer Hugh Monroe singing live.

The annual Pollys Club birthday party is celebrating their incredible 46-year run. The theme for the evening is Heavenly Creatures. An amazing show of cast members and special guests will be a true spectacle with a 45-minute production show that really shouldn’t be missed.  So mark August 28 in your diaries and come along to the Roundhouse at the University of NSW. Book tickets now before they sell out. $30 pre-paid or $40 at the door. Call David NOW on 9557 6739.

DIVA is celebrating 20 years this year with a true night of glitz and glamour to be held on Monday, September 6 at the Museum of Contemporary Art at Circular Quay. Tickets on sale Tuesday August 10.  Also be sure to come along to the

DIVA launch at Stonewall Hotel on Monday August 9 at 7.30pm. For more info on these events, visit the DIVA website at www.divaawardsaustralia.com.au

DIVA Award-winning radio show Queer Out West celebrated 10 years in December 2009. If you are interested in sponsoring or advertising on this GLBT show, please let us know.

A huge thanks goes out to all of our previous sponsors and supporters, especially New Mardis Gras. The biggest thanks also goes out to SSO for all their support of Western Sydney and for being our media sponsor. For sponsoring and advertising enquiries email [email protected] and [email protected] attention to Ian.

Drag gossip: Gracie Lou heads to Asia for her yearly getaway with partner Paul. What is she doing over there? Getting a penis enlargement or perhaps a transformation into a real girl? We’ll have all the news when she returns.

Also it seems that the Yanks aren’t the only ones who have the Jerry Springer moments. An infamous Western Sydney couple (known for all the wrong reasons) got a little tipsy at Kaleidoscope and spilled the beans to the biggest mouth in the west. “I love my boyfriend of eight years,” he said.

And how did they meet? “When I was straight I was dating the sister, then I slept with the bisexual brother and after that I fell in love with the gay  brother.”

Now I’ve slept with pretty much all of western Sydney, but never an entire family … he he he.

Till next time, gorgeous!
