Post-parade party announced

Post-parade party announced

The 2010 Mardi Gras parade will be followed by a new party at the Entertainment Quarter.

The party will fill the gap left after the organistion booked the annual party on a different weekend to parade earlier this year, causing the two events to be split for the first time in its 33-year history.

The Parade Carnival on Saturday, February 27 will be free for participants, volunteers and NMG members, but there will also be a significant number of tickets available for general release. For these tickets priority will be given to friends and family of NMG members.

  1. You know what – all of you.

You all want to whinge here about “Changes”, “No One Told Me”, “I Don’t Understand”.

    Simple questions

    1. How many of you here that whinge are members
    2. How many of the same attended the AGM
    3. How many of you voulenteer for ANYTHING related
    4. How many of you want the organiastion to do something different.

The dates thing has been explained TIME AND AGAIN. The idea of having a post parade event has been explained TIME AND AGAIN.

Are you people dense? Do you have the memory spans of Goldfish?

How many time must we, as a ommunity, flog a horse that is beyond dead, and has decomposition setting in.

    From this point forward people:

Pay attention when you are told things
Contruibute in a positve way, don’t whinge
And if you don’t like it, get in and help !

    Sheez …..

  2. HERE HERE DavidW! This was the exact topic myself and other half were talking about last week with friends. You just get this feeling you’re being played for nothing more than a fool with these contradiciting reasons/excuses. Did they ever think to ask US what we would want because NOT one person i know is happy in the slightest. I don’t have one idea what i’m going to do this MG for the simple fact it’s all over the place. Keep it tight and put it back the way it was BEFORE IT WAS BROKEN !!!

  3. http://WWW.TTTT.FFFF!!! The very reason (excuse) orginally given for the two different dates was that they thought that volunteers were too tired to go to any party at all after the parade!!!!!! (anyway they could always go to Harbour Party on a different date?). And now they announce have a new party on the night of the parade for the volunteers???
This illogical excuse about the volunteers being too tired was clung to for months as the reason why the party was now a week apart (don’t worry about the other 20,000 non-volunteers!).
Really- the logical thing is for the party to be straight after the parade when the adrenaline & momentum of the night has built up, no matter how tired you are from volunteering.
So, some honesty now please- are the dates different because of a booking stuff up??? If so, then find another venue for the same night(not sure where though), or move the parade to the different week? ….and fire the person who stuffed up the booking date.
Sorry, but I’m very confused by being talked down to with apparent lies with the original excuse, and the almost-successful attempt to “use” the volunteers as the excuse- how disrespectful to those volunteers. Please don’t “use” the volunteers like a football like this again!
So the truth please… what is the latest “real” reason as to why Party & Parade are on different weeks? And the reason should be noted/included in articles such as this, so we can keep track, for those of us who have only heard bits & peices. :)

  4. Huh??? so there is going to be two Parties???
