A vision for T2’s future

The former T2 site on Taylor Square South is to become a ‘cycle hub’ under new City of Sydney plans.
The council-owned site is to be re-designed to include café space, a bicycle repair centre and bike shop.
Lord Mayor Clover Moore said the initative would help link Taylor Square in with other cycling routes around Sydney, help cut down on the city’s carbon emissions and help to re-invigorate usage of the area.
“The council has a vision to restore Taylor Square to a people-friendly precinct,” she said. “We are looking at ways to activate the area through improved urban design, to make it a more lively, vibrant, attractive and safe public area.”
According to council-funded surveys sent to Taylor Square locals, 50 percent of people said their most disliked aspect of living in the area was dealing with drunkenness and disorderly behaviour. And 17 percent said they would like to see more cafés in the area.
“We want to create a first-class facility and a nerve centre for Sydney’s cycling community, integrated with Taylor Square South and the other bicycle routes,” Moore said.
“The new centre will become a multi-purpose facility for the whole community to enjoy.”
