The Slap wins timeslot

ABC mini-series The Slap looks to have won over audiences critically and in terms of ratings last night.

TVTonight is reporting it won its 8.30pm timeslot with 946,000 viewers, which blogger David Knox is calling “a good start for the public broadcaster” given numbers across the night were rather average.

Based on the novel by gay Melbourne author Christos Tsolkias, the first episode defeated Beauty And The Geek Australia (863,000), Unforgettable (732,000), Rush (660,000) and Supersizers Go (207,000).

It replays tonight on ABC2.
