Conan O’Brien hosts live gay wedding

Talk-show host Conan O’Brien will today (Thursday night US time) officiate a gay wedding between one of his long-time staff members and his partner live on air.

O’Brien, who was ordained through the Universal Life Church earlier in the week, is currently filming his show, Conan, on location at New York’s Beacon Theatre.

The final event in O’Brien’s week of shows is the wedding of the long-time costume designer Scott Cronick and his partner, David Gorsheinand.

“This will be the first, I believe, same-sex wedding performed on late night television,” Conan pointed out on the show last night.

New York State legalised gay marriage in June, 2011.
