Evacuate the dancefloor … Cascada is back!

Evacuate the dancefloor … Cascada is back!

Cascada will be evacuating dancefloors all over again with their latest Hi-NRG dance anthem San Francisco.

It’s been a couple of years since the German trio’s last Australian hit, but they have continued to churn them out in Europe with songs like Pyromania and Night Nurse.

Cascada should have more luck here in Oz with their latest single, which finds the group taking down the BPM a notch or two for a more radio friendly sound.

Their ode to the gay capital of the world is a cheerful pop jam with a cute chorus and inane lyrics about discovering your inner hippy.

It seems thoroughly inoffensive but some bloggers have accused the band of stealing the beat from Katy Perry’s California Gurls.

There are some similarities but it’s a bit of a stretch.

Watch the typically cheesy video (below) and let us know if you think Natalie & co have been paying a little too much attention to Katy’s 2010 number one smash.

  2. The chord progression is similar but the songs are not the same. People just love to criticize anything when they get a chance to and I think that is what is happening here is people are looking for something negative to say.

  3. They do sound similar, but that’s about it. Remember when Lady gaga got bashed for copying Madonna’s song. I like it better than Katy Perry’s song. Just me but I like it better.
