Kylie brings Les Folies home

Kylie Minogue landed in Australia earlier this morning, bringing her hugely successful Aphrodite – Les Folies world tour with her.

The pop icon has been performing the show, which draws on Greek mythology for inspiration, since February and is nearing the end of a mammoth 76 date run that has already covered countries as diverse as Denmark, Lithuania, Switzerland, England, America, Mexico and Japan.

It is the biggest undertaking of the 43-year-old’s career.

With production costs coming in at around US$25 million, Les Folies features more than one million moving parts – including water jets, rain curtains and fountains.

The big budget extravaganza has earned rave reviews around the world.

London’s The Independent was clearly smitten and declared, “as an exercise in pure pop pleasure, the concert could not be faulted”, while The Washington Post lavished praise on Les Folies, calling it a show of epic proportions.

Kylie kicks off the Australian leg of the tour this Friday night in Brisbane before stopping in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.

A tour edition of Aphrodite hits stores on June 3 to commemorate the tour but here are the album’s four singles in case you need to brush up before seeing what promises to be one of the best concerts of 2011.

See you there!
