Kylie – cancer free for five years

Kylie has opened up to a Spanish TV show about her battle with cancer as she celebrates her fifth year in remission.

In an emotional interview, the pop legend told El Hormiguero: “You need to hand yourself over to not only the medical people, who do a fine job, but to all the people who want to take care of you.”

“Sometimes you don’t want to be mollycoddled but what I found helpful is you have to let them help you,” she continued.

The Aphrodite singer also spoke of the power of positivity, saying “I think it’s too simple to say ‘just stay strong’, because you can’t be strong all the time”.

“You have those moments when you’re down and so horribly, horribly low, but you still come up again, so believe in that.”

The Australian pop icon was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 days before her Showgirl tour was scheduled to kick off in Sydney.

She underwent surgery in Melbourne and chemotherapy in Paris to beat the disease and has been in remission ever since.

Kylie brought in 2011 in typically fabulous style by performing her recent UK top 40 hit Better Than Today on a British television special.
