Sex and the City prequel ordered

A pilot for a prequel series to Sex and the City has been ordered by The CW, the American network home to Supernatural and Gossip Girl.

Titled The Carrie Diaries and based on Sex and the City author Candace Bushnell’s prequel novel of the same name, the show would be set in the 1980s featuring a young Carrie Bradshaw “asking her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family, while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan.”

Although none of the cast have been confirmed, it was announced that the pilot was written by Sex and the City scribe Amy Harris and the show is executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. Schwartz and Savage’s involvement suggests that time may be up for Gossip Girl, the pair’s other show.
