Tori Amos returns

’90s pop icon Tori Amos is putting the finishing touches on a classical music album called Night of Hunters, which will be released by Deutsche Grammophon in September.

The 47-year-old released a statement saying: “I have used the structure of a classical song cycle to tell an ongoing, modern story.

“The protagonist is a woman who finds herself in the dying embers of a relationship.

“In the course of one night she goes through an initiation of sorts that leads her to reinvent herself allowing the listener to follow her on a journey to explore complex musical and emotional subject matter.”

Tori then went on to say that “one of the main themes explored on this album is the hunter and the hunted and how both exist within us”.

The singer-songwriter has promised to promote the album with a tour of America and Europe – as yet no Australian dates have been announced.

While we wait for the Cornflake Girl singer’s classical music adventure, why not revisit her 2002 classic A Sorta Fairytale (below).
