Queens take to the green

The newly formed Unbiased Bowling gay lawn bowls club moves from strength to strength with people rushing to join.

Just one week from their formation the queens of the green managed to attract 21 members, but it is not too late for anyone who has just found out that Sydney has its first GLBT lawn bowls group.

If you didn’t get a chance to meet the founders of the newest sports club in town at last weekend’s Sports Day Out, there will be another opportunity on October 19 for people interested in taking up the sport.

The inaugural meeting of the club will be held at 2pm at the Marrickville Bowls Club, where a committee will be elected as well as offering an opportunity for people to sign up or get more information.

The annual club fee is $40, which will go towards paying for the first year’s bowling club fee with Marrickville. In addition to this, players will have to pay $5 for each day of play.

There is also the option of becoming a full member of the Marrickville Bowls Club at a cost of $50, which entitles you to play at any bowls club in Sydney.

The first day of play for Unbiased Bowling is Sunday October 26, and, after that, every Sunday and Wednesday.
