Runners in front

It was a record attendance at the Frontrunners annual Mardi Gras run on Saturday 7 March with well over 100 participants.

The festivities kicked off with an early morning fun run to Bronte beach but it was the popular 5km race which caught all the attention.

We had people from all over the world and this is our equivalent to the Pride run, Frontrunners secretary Wayne Morgan said.

With over 110 Frontrunners clubs around the world, it’s one of the biggest gay and lesbian sporting groups. We know there are a lot of visitors in Sydney for Mardi Gras, so we host this event.

Sydney Frontrunner Matthew Webster took out the men’s division in the 5km run with a time of 17.23 minutes and Emma Yench won the female division on 21.45 minutes.

The popular sporting club is about to head into serious training mode for the Sydney Morning Herald half-marathon in May.
