Argonauts celebrate 10 years

Melbourne queer rowing club the Argonauts is celebrating its 10th anniversary next month with a special gala event.

The formal dinner will be held on August 13 at the Power House on Albert Park Lake, the club’s home rowing location.

The celebrations will also include a speech and boat-naming by Argonauts patron, former High Court judge Michael Kirby.

Tickets are $110 and all are welcome.

In other Argonauts news, the rowers will hold their regular trivia night on Saturday, July 16, 7pm at St Kilda Town Hall to raise money for the club’s equipment fund. There’ll be a silent auction, prizes and the popular ‘how gay are you?’ quiz. Entry is $25.

Participants are encouraged to bring friends and a food platter. The best platter will win a prize. Book online.

The club also runs learn-to-row programs. The next session will be on July 31 at Albert Park Lake. Cost $150.
