Rangers celebrate season success

GAVIN MEARS

2011 has been the Sydney Rangers’ most successful year. Our membership has grown and at the end of 2011 we have more full and social members than ever.

Our games were supported with both teams having a regular following and more than 100 spectators for both the grand final and JF Cup in Melbourne.

Financially we raised more money than previous years and attracted more sponsorship than in the past. Our raffle proved a huge success with 14 big winners.

A big thank you to the Star Observer and Midnight Shift for their generous support and we look forward to continuing to work with them and the community in general.

Our social events attracted more players and friends than ever with beach barbeques planned throughout summer.

On the field we also had our best year to date. It started with our biggest Mardi Gras 5 Aside and the quickly followed at the Asia OutGames in Wellington with a silver medal.

Both of our winter teams made their finals, with Rangers A making the grand final.

And to finish the 11 Aside competition year the Rangers travelled to Melbourne for the annual Justin Fashanu Cup, and returned with the crystal trophy.

The competition year continues with a team playing hard in a Tuesday night Balmain competition and for the first time Rangers running their own 5 Aside weekly competition every Wednesday night.
It has been a year to remember on and off the field.

And 2012 will be just as big with the Mardi Gras 5 Aside returning on Feb 25, the possibility of three teams in the Winter league (we have places available just email us for more info ), the IGLFA World Championships in Mexico, and the return of the Justin Fashanu Cup to Sydney in October.

To all our supporters, players, friends and sponsors thank you for your support and helping us make 2011 a year to remember.

Social Soccer continues throughout Summer every Sunday, players of all standards welcome and no commitment just turn up.

If you or a friend, gay, straight or bisexual, are interested in playing in our Winter teams, the World Cup or any of our competitions email us for details.

If you simply want to know whats coming up and join in the football or social events email us for details or “like” us on Facebook.
