Two epic battles for Rangers

The boys from Sydney’s Rangers A played their best game of the season so far against league leaders Strathfield B last weekend.

Starting as the stronger of the two teams, Rangers put the opposition under mounting pressure and played the first 20 minutes almost entirely in Strathfield’s half.

Dan O’Raw and Bobby Chase put in a solid central partnership and outside defenders Rob Lumb and Adam Balsamo were in inspiring form all match.

Despite the Rangers’ dominance, they finished the match with a 0-1 loss.

“When you play the way we did today and lose, all you can do is keep believing our hard work will eventually pay off,” coach Joseph Roppolo said.

Meanwhile, Rangers B recorded their second draw of the season at Birchgrove Oval against old rivals Five Dock on Saturday. Coach Mark scored both goals for the Rangers.

It was easily the team’s best performance this season. Goalkeeper Erwin pulled out many first-class saves, while defender Kevin delivered a tackle in the penalty area to deny Five Dock a clear goal at the end of the match, finishing the game 2-all.
