Youth projects funded
Homeless queer youth, homophobia in sport and gay-straight ally groups in Victorian schools are just some of the eight new projects to receive funding worth more than $200,000.
The Victorian government funding is from the second round Healthy Equal Youth (HEY), which gives financial grants to projects throughout the state, designed to support the health and wellbeing of young LGBTI people.
Projects included a program to promote better inclusion in sports in the Barwon south-west region and re-starting a social support group for young homeless LGBTI people.
SYN FM will train 20 young people to plan, produce and present their own radio program as part of the Queer Youth On Air project and the Overnewton Anglican Community College will establish their own gay-straight ally group.
