US cable network Logo will launch a new reality series based on the premise of popular TV show the Bachelor with 13 gay men fighting it out to win the affection of one Lothario.

Set to debut in the spring, Finding Prince Charming will be hosted by former boy-band heartthrob Lance Bass.

The 13 men will live together in the same house and compete to stand out from the crowd to try to capture the attention and love of the show’s Prince Charming.

Commentators on social media were excited by the announcement, but many remained sceptical, calling on Logo to ensure the casting is inclusive and diverse.

“Logo has a long history of showcasing LGBTQ-focused stories with memorable characters that transcend pop culture,” said Pamela Post, senior vice president of Original Programming for Logo.

“Finding Prince Charming will take viewers on a whirlwind journey through modern love and relationships in a way that only Logo can do.”

It is not the first time a gay version of the Bachelor was attempted; in 2003 Bravo launched Boy Meets Boy, but it only lasted six episodes.

Who knows if the the Finding Prince Charming will be a success, but it might end up looking something like this:

I sure hope this means that individuals are “allowed” to respect their own “deal-breakers”, whatever that may be?
