Queer erotica festival

The Red Rattler Theatre in Marrickville is hosting the Australian debut of the Perv Film Festival this week.

The four-day program will highlight the best of those media devoted to queer erotica.

From the sensual to the lewd, the silly to the serious, the subtle to the shamelessly upfront, the Perv program explores the full spectrum of queer erotic imagery, festival organiser and programmer Louise Malcolm said.

We wanted to create a festival that was a little broader than just film screenings. We wanted to explore other avenues of queer erotic imagery. That is why this festival includes an installation component.

Cult filmmaker Katrina Del Mar is coming from New York to present a retrospective of her work and premiere one of her new films. The festival will also feature Buck Angel’s Buckback Mountain as well as A Night at the Adonis, a classic from 1977 featuring the legendary Jack Wrangler.

Perv Film Festival opens on Thursday 23 April and will focus on the installations with host Mr Big Pants giving guided tours. For the rest of the week you can catch a night of performance and partying with The Box Brownie Flash on Friday or view the two days and nights of screenings on Saturday and Sunday. The festival will finish with a short film competition screening.
