A whiter smile

A whiter smile

There’s a trend sweeping not only through Hollywood but also through the gay community. Our teeth are getting whiter. Whitening can improve your smile and, perhaps more importantly, your confidence to smile.
Dentist Dr Michael Finkelstein said the most popular form of whitening is the Zoom! in-chair whitening treatment. Patients can achieve instantly whiter teeth in just one hour.
We recommend Zoom! teeth whitening because it achieves great results with a minimum of sensitivity. Other systems use a harsh UV or laser light, which can heat up the teeth and cause sensitivity, or leave a blue tinge appearance on the teeth, he said.
There are many different options available to enhance your smile and whiten your teeth. Each method is very popular -” it just depends on your needs and your teeth.
It’s also recommended to see a dentist before having your teeth whitened to ensure the best possible results are achieved. Not everyone is an ideal candidate for teeth whitening and only a dentist is able to determine this.
Dr Finkelstein said there can be some tooth sensitivity experienced during and immediately after teeth whitening, however, this usually subsides after 24 hours.
There are a number of teeth whitening options Dr Finkelstein said are available:
* Over-the-counter kits and whitening toothpastes. These can be purchased at a pharmacy or supermarket. You will never achieve the same results with an over-the-counter-product as you would with one you buy from a dentist because of the strength of the whitening gel.
* Take-home kits. This is where your dentist makes custom-made trays designed specifically for your own jaw and mouth and supplies you with a professional quality tooth whitening gel. This is a great option for those who would like to whiten their teeth in the comfort of their own home and in their own time.
* Instant in-chair whitening. The dentist applies a gel and uses a special light to activate the gel to whiten the teeth. This procedure takes about an hour and is more expensive than the take-home kits, but does give you an immediate result.
* Dental veneers. Sometimes dental veneers are used to whiten teeth or give a total makeover. Some teeth are not candidates for teeth whitening and this is where dental veneers are effective at correcting or cosmetically enhancing your smile.

  1. Almost all who meet me ask me if I use any teeth whitening agent .I think thats another reason that people are attracted to me especially gays.Never used Stardent yet. Will recommend Steradent to my friends

  2. Steradent is indeed quite a powerful tablet and very effective if seeing a dentist for a tooth whitening procedure is just out of your budget. The reason dentists don’t recommend the DIY-solution is because there are plenty of ways that someone could mess up the procedure and permanently damage their teeth. Just be careful not to get a dosage that’s too strong and always keep it in moderation. Good luck!

  3. John forgot to mention that the Chemist wouldn’t be stocking it on his shelves if it was no good,He honestly would prefer you bought his super dooper tooth whitening kit that he sells for $50 plus!…with no guarantee, exchange or refund.

  4. Steradent tablets come in “Two” different boxes.Don’t get the extra strong box,get the box called “Active Plus”.Also get a new toothbrush,a medium or soft bristle one.
Also remember if you drink a lot of tea or coffee the stains in the cups are what you are going to have on your teeth, the same thing. You will notice that friends who don’t smoke, drink tea or coffee have nice white teeth.
But try the Steradent, for about $12 and a the new tooth brush,i.e spinbrush pro-clean (About $10.50 from Woolies) you should have pearlier whites after,as I’m getting even better results with the new toothbrush myself. But remember dentists would prefer you paid $700 up for a kit(As they have to run a Porsche etc),like people booking a month ahead for those $300+ haircuts around oxford street.A fool and his money are soon parted,Ha!

  5. Just went to the chemist to purchase some Steradent tablets.

He was saying that the active ingredient is Sulfamic Acid although it being 10g/kg.

He was concerned that the acid content may/may not dissolve the enamel of teeth causing permanent damage.

Have you had experience of this occuring or know anybody that has ?

    john

  6. I agree

I tend to use whitening toothpaste and I see results in a week, however, I find, long use of whitening toothpaste makes my teeth really sensitive thus Im always swapoing/changing from time to time, Ill have to use the steradent method that sounds great

  7. An old flatmate of mine wanted to get his teeth whitened so he visited his dentist who quickly replied “Im busy mate” can you come back another time or use steradent.
He tried it and his teeth went white.
I recommend anyone to use “Steradent” tablets, its simple to use,you drop a tablet in half a glass of warm water, let it dissolve then wash it around your mouth then spit it out, rinse then use the “Steradent” tooth paste to brush your teeth,to getat even better. Then at night use your normal Colgate toothpaste or what ever toothpaste you usually use.It take about a week for your teeth to go very white, but you can usually see physical results after 2 days.
Yes you can pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars to see a dentist like the article above or even waste your money on those $40 dollar kits from Woolies(that are useless anyway) etc BUT a million Biddys cant be wrong They have super white teeth as they all use Steradent as they are on a budget, and if your paying rent and going out a lot, paying through the nose at the dentist for a white smile to keep up with the Jones is just a pure waste of hard earned money, thanks
