After a successful season, the Sydney Convicts rugby club celebrated its achievements with an awards night at the Moore Park Golf Club at the weekend.
Based on man-of-the-match points awarded by the coaching staff at each game, Charles Gregory from Convicts 1 and Marcel Garraud from Convicts 2 took out the Best and Fairest Award in their respective divisions.
Kevin Perry took out the President’s Award, an award presented to the club member who has most embodied the club’s values on and off the field during the year.
The Player’s Player award, voted by fellow team members in their grade, went to Angus Donald (Convicts 1) and was jointly shared by Simon Thompson and Marcel Garraud from Convicts 2.
Next year the Sydney Convicts will travel to the United States to defend their Bingham Cup title, hoping to make it a hat-trick of victories.
