Gay publisher wound up

Evolution Publishing, which produces gay titles SX, Melbourne Community Voice, Blaze, Queensland PrideCult magazine and gaynewsnetwork.com.au, has been ordered to wind up by the Federal Court in Sydney, with a liquidator appointed last Friday to oversee the process.

The Australian Tax Office had originally issued an application to wind-up Evolution in March. Pegasus Print Group was listed as a supporting creditor in documents filed with the court.

On Tuesday, gaynewsnetwork.com.au carried a statement from the company’s management saying Evolution titles will now be published by a company called ‘Evo Media Pty Ltd’.

“The license agreement follows the termination of an agreement with the previous license holder, Evolution Publishing,” the statement read.

Evo Media company director Dean Bell – the former general manager of Evolution Publishing – claimed that all publications would continue and all staff and contributors who work on the publications had been offered employment.
