Live your goals

Live your goals

The towers lowered behind me as I marched through the Domain on my way home.  The sun was so high, so hot.  The grass just mown, sweet summer carried on a faint breeze.

One day a week I leave work after half a day so I can spend the afternoon with the mini-men.  The forty minute drive to their pre-school is uneventful and traffic usually extends it to a hideous hour or so.

Opening the gate at the school I study the sand pit for familiar faces. They usually spot me first.  They come bolting through the dwarf crowds yelling DADDYYYYY-¦, propelling themselves into the air and landing in a baby bear hug against my chest. Not one but two mini-men.

It makes you feel so good your whole face lights up and you immediately forget about everything.

We collect our bags, showcase our latest paintings that would leave any Sale of the Century hostess speechless at their flair and style, kiss the teachers goodbye and make our way back to the family home via the local park.

The sun is still so high.  The local streetscape is busy with families and a once-familiar life.

I’ve made it my promise and my goal to keep this focus on my lifestyle balance with work to enjoy time, such precious time with my sons before they are all grown up.

I set all my 2009 goals in November after attending a work conference where an Olympic gold medallist had inspired us to walk over broken glass.

I was invincible.  I could do anything after that.  I even boarded a tin can Rex plane (I’m not a great flyer) two weeks post my splintery, wince-inducing walk.

I have my goals stuck to the fridge, right next to Vincent, my DNA fridge boy, who doubles as my sometimes lonely glass of red wine cheersing mate. I have goals for all elements of my life -” financial, friends, family, fitness and for the boys.

Each day I see the goals. They are not studied, but noticed.  Similar to the treasured artefacts created from crayons and mixed colour paintbrushes, again, not studied, but noticed and cherished.
Have a fantastic and positive new year, and each day welcome all you have and all you want into your life.

  1. Very inspiring. I have entered a new phase of life and find myself faced with goals I never dreamed I would create let alone attain, a rather scary journey really, but one I must take.

    Thank you for the encouragement.
