EARLIER in the year, Facebook stepped up its online service by allowing users to select non-binary options for gender identity.

While this was generally applauded, it had left the family selection traditionally gendered.

Now Facebook is changing the family members section to allow gender neutral options in the US, such as “parent”, “sibling”, “cousin”, and “grandchild”.

It’s been reported that not all US users’ profiles have the update yet,  but we hope the roll out continues and will hit Australian Facebook users soon.
