Elton John’s husband blasts Madonna
Elton John’s husband David Furnish is apparently not a fan of Madonna’s Golden Globe-winning song Masterpiece.
Madonna co-wrote and sung the tune for her movie W.E.. It took out the Best Original Song over competitors including John’s Hello Hello from Gnomeo & Juliet.
Furnish, who’s been married John since 2005, posted a blistering reaction to the singer’s victory on his Facebook page.
“Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!…Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in it’s narcissism. And her critisism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is.”
On the Golden Globes red carpet earlier that night, John had given an interview to Carson Daly in which he was asked about Madonna’s chances of winning.
“Madonna hasn’t got a f**king chance,” he said.
When Daly later informed Madonna the comments later in the evening, she seemed only too happy to take the wager.
“Oh damn him. Those are fighting words. … May the best man win,” she said.
