Bears to crown Mr HCB

There is still time to register as a contestant for the 2012 Mr Harbour City Bears (HCB) competition, to be held on Saturday, May 12, 8pm at the Oxford Hotel’s Supper Club.

Hosted by Ross James with music by DJ Frankie Shin and judged by a panel of community representatives, the event promises to be a fun and fur-filled night, complete with lucky door prizes.

Reigning Mr HCB George Showell will open the night.

HCB will present the Inspire Foundation with funds raised during the year. HCB have raised almost $20,000 for the organisation, which aims to improve the mental health of young people and reduce youth suicide, over the last three years through raffles and charity events.

Inspire has used the funds to work with LGBTI community organisations to improve its skills in reaching young people, and to greater understand and reflect the needs and stories of young LGBTI people.

Inspire’s website at www.ReachOut.com includes resources aimed at LGBTI youth and has nearly 4000 visitors every day.

The Mr HCB winner will receive a return flight to Melbourne and spending money to compete in the 2012 Mr Australasia Bear competition.
