New life members at VAC
Prominent gay health researcher Anne Mitchell was honoured at the Victorian AIDS Council’s (VAC) AGM last month for her long time involvement with the HIV response in Victoria. She was praised for her persistent work of getting gay and lesbian health issues on political and community agendas.
Two life memberships were announced for Sue MacGregor and Gordon Campbell.
MacGregor was recognised for her contributions to the HIV/AIDS Legal Centre at VAC and Campbell was recognised for long-standing efforts as a volunteer with the Community Support Program, combatting isolation for people living with HIV.
Michael Williams, David Menadue, Kirsty Machon and David Mejia Canales were elected to the VAC/Gay Men’s Health Centre management board at October 28 meeting.
“I am keen to be involved in ensuring a sharp focus on VAC/GMHC’s prevention efforts, particularly in light of recent rises in HIV notifications,” Williams said.
