It’s raining men

It’s raining men

“Humidity is rising, the barometer is getting low/ According to all sources, the street is the place to go.”

Well, it was last week. Literally! If you live in Surry Hills, you will know what I’m writing about.

Last Sunday night and into the early hours of Monday morning wild winds hit the streets of Surry Hills. It sounded like 10 people had put on golf shoes and started stamping across the roof.

This went on for hours. I was up every hour and did not get much sleep that night at all.

Finally I tried to venture out of the front door at the crack of dawn to take a sneaky peek at the mess, but there was a huge tree lying across the front door step so this was not possible. I took a detour out the back only to find a massive tree branch poking out of the roof of the house and electricity wires no longer attatched to the side of the house.

Being the super-trouper I am, I shaved in the dark, showered with cold water, and hightailed it to work for a very important meeting that could not be postponed.

I also gave my housemate strict instructions on what not to do — and made him repeat them several times over, just to make sure he got it. Electricity and he definitely do not mix and if there is an accident to happen, he is the one to find it!

He was to stay home and wait for further instructions. I rang the  SES, the electricity people, and the real estate all before arriving at work. “We will be there sometime today” was the reply from each of them.

The housemate had an urgent meeting to attend that afternoon, so we played tag team. I left work and headed home for the afternoon shift. I was so glad I did.

There were sexy workmen in boots and hard hats everywhere. Now you know I cannot resist a damn hot man in gear! So what did I do — I got myself into some leather gear.

This raised a few eyebrows and a couple of bulges in the right places! So I got my roof repaired, electricity restored and some action…

All because it was raining men!
