Marr hosts Dupain talk
Writer David Marr will host a discussion, ‘Max Dupain and Harry Seidler: On Photography and Architecture’ on October 27 as part of the Australian Institute of Architects’ (AIA) Unseen Dupain exhibition, running from October 20 – 30.
The collection, which Dupain donated to the then Royal Australian Institute of Architects in 1989, documents many striking buildings from Sydney’s past that have since been lost to developers.
Marr will chat with architect Harry Seidler’s widow Penelope Seidler and Dupain’s colleague Jill White about how the two men bounced ideas off each other.
Dupain’s photographs of Seidler’s buildings presented in the exhibition include the Australian Embassy in Paris, Australia Square, the Seidler residence in Killara, Rose Seidler House, and the Seidler and Associates office in Milsons Point.
The exhibition is at the Tusculum building in Potts Point which houses the AIA. Many of Dupain’s photographs are on public display for the first time.
Both the talk and exhibition are free.
