One of the most notoriously homophobic nations in the Caribbean has elected a pro-gay leader.

New Jamaican Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller won an overwhelming majority in elections held on December 29, winning 42 out of 63 seats in the Jamaican House of Representatives, despite saying she would review the country’s colonial era sodomy laws and would accept MPs who were homosexual in her government.
